The
modern metropolises are urban centers, sites
of social and cultural life (Berlin serves
only as an example in the photographs).
Here something is constantly coming into
being. And the vivacious agility of the
city-dwellers fills the “enclosed
spaces” and “canyons”.
At the same time cities always consist of
faceless “non-places”, barren
urbanity, drab or non-functional voids.

In
this project still in progress I try to
catch the feeling of being on the borderline
between two worlds, on the way in between
two stages, two conditions. Nothing is finished
and the goal might not be absolutely clear
- you haven´t really left the past,
and the other shore is still not in sight.
Partly there is a general aspect to it,
as this could be recognizable to anyone,
partly a specific one, as I choose to focus
on a concrete border area, the one between
eastern and western Europe.
